ragazzi mi ha inviato l'email!!!!
Hi Ian and Isma,
as promised, here are some infos about the input mods.
I attached four files with this mail. Please have a look.
Input_stock.jpg shows the original input section of a HC from 2003'
Input_mod.jpg shows the mod
V1_Grid_Stopper.jpg shows the gridstopper resistor to V1 (stock)

The Input Mods (PDF):
Pic A shows the stock input section of every Cornford amp I've seen. This is the noisy version and similar to what Marshall and Fender did over decades.
In pic B the two 68k resistors were removed, only the grid stopper resitor directly soldered to the socket of V1 remains, with its value changed from 68k to 1k. It doesn't matter which plug is used, so no more Hi/Lo. You will notice some more sparkle top end, which is more or less subtile.
The reason: 68k||68K input resistors + 68k grid stopper –> 102k on high input. Together with the capacity of the tube (about 100p) this causes a 3dB cut off at roughly 15kHz, subtile but can be heard. Grid stoppers have the main purpose to supress RF (radio frequencies) from the tube grid where they are amplified and of course will be heard.
To restore the original cut off frequency but with less noise, simply solder a small 47p /1kV cap between anode and cathode. Do a clean job, it is very narrow on the socket! This is pic C.
Finally pic D. If you should experience RF simply solder 100p to the 1M resistor between the input plug. I never had this, but it depends on your surroundings. It might be, that you don't need the 47p on the tube socket any more – remove it. Try and trust your ears.
Of Course, you can do this to any Marshall, Fender etc... ;-D
And don't forget, if you never soldered anything, visit a good tech and let this job be done. Working on tube amps can be dangerous even if they are switched off!!! The big caps inside can store for some time, no joke!
I hope this put some light on it.
Have a nice evening and best wishes,
